Meet Jon Bolin
Co-Founder, Eclipse Solutions
A Lifetime in Business
Jon has been immersed in small business since childhood. He grew up working in his family’s two successful diners in Oregon, where he learned early on the value of hard work, personal relationships, and community-rooted business. In high school, his parents shifted to owning a maintenance and property management company, where Jon continued to contribute while shaping his own path.
He eventually found his passion in the outdoor industry, working as a rafting guide and ski tech while pursuing a degree in Business Management and Leadership. During the shoulder seasons of the outdoor industry, Jon made a point of gaining hands-on experience across industries, working everywhere from sign shops to donut bakeries to driving garbage trucks. These experiences shaped his well-rounded, roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style.
Professional Background
After earning his degree, Jon joined Next Adventure, Portland’s largest independently owned outdoor retailer. He launched and managed a new store in Sandy, OR, growing it from $300K in annual revenue to over $1.5 million in just three years. It was at this store that he met and hired his future business partner, Tanner Derrick.
From there, Jon moved into the company's central operations, first as HR Manager, where he built out the entire HR department from scratch, introducing scalable, values-based policies, people systems, and a “homegrown” culture. Recognizing his impact, the owners promoted Jon to Chief Operating Officer.
As COO, Jon oversaw four brick-and-mortar stores, an e-commerce platform, warehouse operations, and a 200-person team. Under his leadership, the company reduced expenses by 20%, increased profitability, and fostered a high-performing team culture. He played a key role in helping the owners retire successfully and facilitating the sale and transition of various parts of the business.

After 15 years in leadership roles at independently owned businesses, Jon saw a consistent need: business owners want to grow but often can’t afford the risk of hiring full-time leadership to get there.

A Strategic Mind
Tanner is a lifelong Oregonian, deeply rooted in Mt. Hood Territory where he grew up exploring the rugged Pacific Northwest landscapes. This connection to the outdoors shaped his preparedness mindset and strategic approach to life and business, always planning ahead, adapting to challenges, and prioritizing sustainable outcomes. As a family man and father of two, Tanner balances his professional drive with a commitment to home and adventure, often spending weekends hiking, camping, or enjoying time with his wife and children.
Professional Background
Tanner's career trajectory began in retail operations, where he quickly developed expertise in high-intensity environments. Holding degrees in Experiential Education and Leadership, he spent over a decade honing his craft across a variety of high level disciplines including distribution center operations, e-commerce fulfillment, Lean Six Sigma process refinement, large scale event planning and retail store management. His roles involved managing complex supply chains, leading cross-functional teams, and scaling operations for multi-million-dollar businesses. At Next Adventure, Portland's premier independent outdoor retailer, Tanner collaborated closely with his future business partner, Jon Bolin, implementing innovative strategies that enhanced operational performance and team dynamics. As a Socratic method expert, he excels at guiding teams through thoughtful questioning to uncover root issues and foster high-performing cultures.
Throughout his career, Tanner has worn many hats, from optimizing inventory systems to directing retail management, always with a roll-up-your-sleeves leadership style that emphasizes precision and impact. His experiences taught him the value of front-line innovation, where real change happens through practical, tailored solutions rather than top-down mandates.
